CRLA Certification

The Learning Lab is an internationally certified program through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). CRLA has certified over 1,000 college tutor training programs since 1989 around the world.

CRLA tutor certification sets an international standard of skills and training for tutors. ITTPC does not certify tutors, only tutor training programs. Those programs in turn can certify tutors. LWTech TRIO/The Learning Lab received CRLA certification in 2008 and is re-certified until 2026.

Certification Requirements

All tutors hired to work in The Learning Lab must meet the following requirements for CRLA certification:

• Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Attend and pass (3.0 or higher) HMDS 114 Tutor Training—a 5 week, 1 credit hybrid tutor training course
• Tutor 50 combined hours for The Learning Lab and/or TRIO
