Assessment Center
The Assessment Center at Lake Washington Institute of Technology prepares students for today's careers and tomorrow's opportunities by providing quality testing and assessment services to our students, faculty, staff and community.
Assessment Center Hours
The Assessment Center is able to support students both in-person and virtually, depending on your availability.
- Office Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Remote Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- All testing ends at 4:50 p.m.
Tuesday
- Office Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. - Late hour by appointment only
- Remote Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- All testing ends at 5:50 p.m.

Services Available
The Assessment Center provides many types of testing and assessments. Some of the main types of testing we offer is Placement Testing, TEAS Testing, and PearsonVue tests.
There are many ways to assess your starting Math and English levels at LWTech. After you have been admitted to LWTech, you can determine which placement option is right for you.
- Access the LWTech Math and English Placement Course in Canvas using your LWTech credentials
- Click "Enroll in Course".
- Click "Go to Course".
- Follow the prompts to find the placement assessments that are appropriate for you.
If you are directed to take the Guided Self-Placement Assessments, you can do with
either online in Canvas or in-person. For in-person placement, visit the Assessment
Center (West Building, W204) with a valid photo ID during our drop-in hours.

Before You Test
The following expectations apply to all tests:
- Current government-issued photo ID is required for all testing
- You must obtain a LWTech Student ID number at Enrollment Services in the West Building, Room W201, prior to taking your test.
- If you arrive late for your test, you will need to reschedule.
- Please make arrangements for childcare, as children are not allowed in the Assessment Center.
- Food or beverages are not allowed in the Assessment Center.
- All personal belongings need to be stored in lockers just outside of the Assessment Center.
- No hats or headphones may be worn in the Assessment Center.
Testing for Students with Disabilities
The Assessment Center at Lake Washington Institute of Technology offers accommodated testing for students with disabilities.
Accommodated Testing Scheduling
If you would like to request for disability accommodations for testing please contact the Disabilities Support Services office. The required lead time for requests to be processed varies depending on the type of test.
- Guided Self Placement & TEAS: 1-2 weeks in advance of planned test date
- CLEP: 2-4 weeks in advance of planned test date
After your accommodations are approved, you will need to contact the Assessment Center to make a testing appointment. Accommodated testing appointments are usually offered on the first Friday of each month. Depending on the type of accommodations needed, an appointment may be necessary for the Guided Self Placement test. If so, a DSS coordinator will arrange this with the Assessment Center.
