What is a Learning Community (LC)?

Learning communities are two classes working together as one. Two instructors plan together to contextualize content and share assignments, so student workload is reduced in completing general education requirements.

How Will These Courses Be Taught?

  • Face-to-face: This course is a traditional classroom with an instructor and students in a college classroom at the same time. Face-to-face classes are located on the LWTech campus at 11605 132nd Avenue in Kirkland, WA. Students are required to be on-campus at the scheduled time for all scheduled class times.
  • Zoom: This course is an online classroom with an instructor and students in the same place, at the same time using Zoom. Student are required to be on Zoom and ready for class at all Zoom class times. Zoom online classes also use Canvas to share classroom materials and to turn in assignments.

Find Learning Communities easily with these steps:

  • Using the Class Schedule
    • Search for English: ENGL/ENGL& courses.
    • Learning Communities are labeled with Section Codes LC1, LC2, LC3, LC4, LC5.
  • Using Student Toolbox Schedule Planner
    • Search for your desired course: ENGL 093 or BIOL&160, etc
    • Learning Communities include a Note 2 which means the class is linked to another.
    • When you register for the class, you will automatically be registered for the matching Learning Community class.
