The Human Resource Management program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology prepares students to meet the growing need for HR professionals in the Seattle area and beyond. This program gives graduates the competitive advantage needed to secure or advance a career helping businesses find and grow their most important asset: their employees. Whether students are looking to enter the HR field for the first time or are HR professionals seeking recertification credits, there are classes to meet all students' educational goals. There are 14 specific HR classes targeted to advance your career.
Individuals may want to take one class, several classes, or complete the Strategic Human Resource Management Certificate, the Human Resource Talent Management Certificate or the Management in Human Services Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree.
HR education is essential for business leaders and owners so they may learn strategies to attract, motivate, and retain their talent.
For the convenience of working professionals’ classes are held in the evening and are hybrid combining in-class and online education. Typically, this means students are in class once a week on the Kirkland campus and then work online at their own pace once a week.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student's responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor or counselor. Any developmental coursework a student might be required to complete may increase the program length.
Instructors have a genuine interest in students' success and are committed to helping them make the most of their education. The program emphasizes applied learning in the human resources field. Small class sizes offer personalized instruction from instructors working as HR professionals that are certified by HRCI® and SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®.
Each class offers both the HR Certification Institute (HRCI®), SHRM-CP®or SHRM-SCP® recertification credits. The curriculum is based on extensive research and recommendations by Society for HR Management (SHRM®) and practicing professionals. Students can also earn recertification hours towards PHR®, SPHR®, GPHR® and PHR-CA/SPHR-CA®.
To assist in the transition from student to a human resources professional, LWTech provides a direct link to Society of HR Management through membership in the LWTech SHRM Student Chapter. The award-winning active student chapter helps with the transition from student to HR professional. Participation is suggested for additional learning, networking with HR professionals, career opportunities, and application of competencies.
Once you complete LWTech's Human Resource Management program, you will have immediate access to numerous jobs in a broad range of industries. Human resource professionals can secure employment in a variety of work environments such as corporate human resource departments, governmental organizations, and private firms. Job titles range from HR generalist to HR business partner manager or various specialties in HR. Depending on background and experience, graduates from the HR program find entry-level and mid-level jobs.
Entry into this program requires completion of an admissions application.
At LWTech, we welcome all students as an open enrollment college and we are committed to your inclusion at the college. The Human Resource program of study leads to an industry or specific employers that may require a full or partial background check as well as a drug test before you start the job.
