He, him, his
Eric discovered his commitment to equity and social justice while pursuing his undergraduate degree in Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). His academic program enabled him to take a wide range of courses on global and societal issues that truly opened his eyes to inequities and injustices at home and abroad. Eric was once told, “The moment you have your eyes opened to injustice, you cannot close them again,” and he takes these words to heart. Eric is passionate about creating inclusive spaces that affirm the rights of marginalized people to exist and thrive. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a multiracial Latino, he understands the complexity of intersecting identities and the multi-layered impacts of oppression. He invites all LWTech students to connect with him and discuss any issues or ideas for making LWTech a more welcoming and safe learning environment.

She, her, hers
Sage currently attends LWTech as a student in the Design program and is excited to be a part of the RISE Center’s first year of operation. Throughout her primary and secondary schooling experience Sage took on many leadership roles and participated in extracurricular activities that allowed her to connect with a wide range of people. She has always had a passion for intersectionality but truly opened her eyes to the inequities of the world after becoming an active member of the LGBTQ+ community. Sage is aware of her privilege as a White American and is dedicated to using it to lift up other marginalized groups and allow them to take the front stage on their own issues. As a woman who deals with mental illness and identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ Community she understands the complexity of privilege and overlapping identities. She looks forward to working with students from all walks of life this upcoming year and hopes to help cultivate an environment where everyone feels affirmed in their identity.

Mei-Juen is originally from Taiwan, a beautiful island on the Pacific Ocean. Being an international student, Mei-Juen started to be aware of the issues of equity and social justice since she studied abroad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her experience of being an early childhood educator also enlightened her to learn how family, school, and the society influence an individual. Mei-Juen is excited to be a part of the RISE Center, where she can utilize her knowledge and skills to make the campus friendly and welcoming for everyone.
