Intensive English Program (IEP)

LWTech offers an Intensive English Program (IEP) just for international students. Our IEP consists of four classes: reading, grammar, listening and speaking, and writing. Classes are held Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. IEP students can also receive free tutoring in our Learning Center from Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

You may attend LWTech as a full-time IEP student or Bridge IEP student if you do not fulfill the minimum English language requirement scores: TOEFL 70 Internet, 193 computer, or 523 paper for academic classes. Students who meet these minimum test scores will have their test scores assessed by the International Programs Office. Our department reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the student's placement.

We offer a free English placement test for all students.

Based on their test scores, students will be placed in either the IEP courses, IEP Bridge program (combination of IEP and academic courses), or directly into academic or technical courses. Bridge students are required to register for at least 15 credits for this quarter-long program. Tuition rates for this program are the non-resident tuition costs.

Students in the IEP program must take 18 credits per quarter.

Tuition for 18 credits is $3,182.86 per quarter.

International High School Completion Program

We are the only school in the area with an actual high school on campus. This is a wonderful opportunity for international students to obtain an American High School Diploma and complete high school and college requirements at the same time to save time and money.

Complete high school and college requirements at the same time! Save time and money. To be eligible for the International High School Completion program, students must:

  • Be 16 years of age or
  • Be a junior (3rd year) or senior (4th year) in high school and
  • NOT have graduated high school

To earn the Washington State High School Diploma students will be required to complete the graduation requirements. College classes will count towards graduation, and most will count towards an associate degree AND the high school requirements. Students with TOEFL scores of 70 Internet, 193 computer, or 523 paper-based will be required to take the COMPASS test at LWTech prior to enrolling in academic classes. Students with no TOEFL scores will take a free English placement test at LWTech. Some intensive English classes may be required before admission into academic classes.

Students in the International High School Completion program will:

  • Submit official transcripts of high school classes (in English) with the application (high school is 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades)
  • Take all required classes and tests for the state high school requirements
  • Take a minimum of 15 credits each quarter
  • Live with a relative or host family until the age of 18

Tuition costs per quarter for the International High School Completion Program are based per credit by non-resident tuition credit. Other fees, including health insurance and books, are not included.
